Pineapple Italian Soda Recipe with Whipped Cream
This Coconut Pineapple Italian soda recipe is perfect for any occasion or gathering. They are sooo easy to make (everyone will think they are so impressive and more complicated to make than they are) and can easily be customized. This one is more like a Pina Colada Italian Soda if you ask my opinion, one of my favourite drinks!
I like to have different drinks or treats to try out and cool down with during the warmer months and Italian sodas are a great one to have in your arsenal of goodies. They are so versatile and the flavour options are pretty much endless. Not to mention they taste scrumptious!
What is Italian soda?
Italian soda is a fun drink made from carbonated water and flavored syrup. Fruit syrups are popular but you can also do flavours of desserts, spices, and other beverages (e.g. chai, chocolate). Cream is also usually added to this drink as well as crushed ice and whipped cream. Italian sodas are fun because you can try so many different flavours and there is always something for everyone.
This makes these sodas like our Coconut Pineapple Italian soda great for any occasion or gathering from girl's night to brunches and backyard BBQs.

Of course since I love coconut and pineapple, can you say pina colada, this Pineapple Italian Soda is my personal favourite. It's reminiscent of a virgin pina colada and super easy to make.
What can you use to create flavours for an Italian Soda?
What can't you use might be the easier question. We used pineapple juice but many people also used flavoured syrups like the ones for coffees and for toppings on ice creams and more. If you want a citrus flavoured Italian soda I suggest using a syrup as the cream can curdle with citrus juices.

It should be noted that if you do want a citrus flavored (tasting) soda and you do want to use actual citrus’, you should use heavy cream instead of half & half as the citrus won’t cause the cream to curdle. Heavy cream comes in 36% to 40% milk fat content and can also be called heavy whipping cream, note the ‘heavy’. Whipping cream however has a slightly lower milk fat content which is 30%- 36% milk fat content but 30% is most common. —Note, in each of these instances I am referring to the creams that come in cartons or bottles like milk does, not the “whipped cream” (notice this is past tense) that comes in a can with compressed air like ‘reddi whip’ etc. although these can be used to top off the soda perfectly.
