i still can't believe that Saif Alam Khan and i managed to bring together 14 design communities in one evening 🔥🙌🔥.these people are doing the main work for a vibrant design industry!!! each of them is building a community with several thousand followers by offering events, information and support in various design areas.we at Berlin Design e.V. are happy to support the community leaders in their work by providing the BDC as an exchange platform to overcome the natural boundaries of voluntary community work and to get in touch with the entire design sector.#bdc #berlindesigncircle #berlindesign

i was interviewed by Igor Ranc from Handpicked Berlin. in his current newsletter you will find three topics & links that are inspiring me. funnily enough, i had never thought about what the futures of design means for myself. in my observation, there are currently two main trends:1. systemic design: in recent years, many design agencies have been bought up by consulting firms and integrated into their processes. this means that the classic consulting context is changing from expert knowledge transfer to internal ideation with clients. in addition, the number of strategic and systemic designers is growing in all design disciplines and they are being integrated into important key functions in other disciplines.examples in berlin: Speculative Futures Berlin ::: Master Zukunftsforschung at Freie Universität Berlin ::: MA Strategic Design at SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences2. computational design: with the use of AI, creators become curators. when tools such as AI can create independently, we gain capacities in new areas of work. as a link between human and machine, designers should always have an overview of the implication of current technologies and their fields of application. in contrast to systemic design with social components, computational design uses multimodal technologies for the creation of generative human-machine systems.examples in berlin: The NODE Institute ::: CDFAM - Computational Design Symposium ::: manifest:io ::: Spatial Media Lab e.V. ::: MA design & computation at Technische Universität Berlin & Universität der Künste Berlinthank you igor for the opportunity and exchange!

are you a design executive, professor, leader, or general design expert? then join for an evening with like-minded designers from science, economy, networks, and administration. you will have the opportunity to pitch ideas and projects and find supporters and also get to know other high professionals from the berlin design sector.this time we will also have a short workshop on the topic 'design for democracy' by Felix Kosok and Dara Sepehri from DDC Deutscher Design Club e.V. . they are currently leading the organisation of the world design capital 2026 for frankfurt am main. together we will discuss and create ideas on how berlin can participate in this happening.thanks also to Albert Lang for providing the wonderful room of the computational design master's program.#BDC #berlindesign

finally managing to summarize my thoughts on the berlin design day. at the beginning of the year, Alexandra Klatt and i decided to organize a joint conference for BERLIN DESIGN WEEK. within two months, we searched supporters and speakers and created a wonderfully rich conference with high-quality content.with berlin design e.v., i strive to pursue a holistic design approach. in a world where everything is becoming increasingly fragmented and careers are becoming more specialized, we should keep the sum of the parts and interconnectedness in mind. the design sector in berlin has suffered precisely from this fragmentation but is sustained by the exceptionally high creativity and enthusiasm for innovation of its individual actors.the conference showed that when you mix philosophy, critical thinking, different design disciplines, collaborative work, emerging technologies, and a love for craftsmanship, something truly enchanting can emerge. particularly, the demonstration of solutions and expertise can give us the courage to use new technologies and aesthetics in a beneficial way for society.
